As a teacher it has always been my aim to educate myself, so as to give the best possible education and variation to others. I started off as a potter and wanting to use more vivid and varied products I turned to ceramics.
Over the past 20 years I have gained Compny certifications from Duncan, Gare, Hanovia, Doc Holliday, Mayco and last but by no means least, Jeanette McCall's Decorative Ceramics Certification in Basket Weaving and Tube Lining. I gained these in Canada in 2000, and am the only one to have it in Europe, to date. I feel that ceramics is being superseded by other skills, so I am teaching fired art such as hand building, basket weaving, flower, fruit building and using unusual products not normally used on pot as well as the brush work and all aspects of traditional and contemporary ceramics.
Most of my travelling is in USA where they just love the pottery. I have found that the new ideas and the unleashing of pottery and design work has fired up many new and established ceramists and potters alike.
If you are setting up your own ceramic business, bespoke training available at your own location. contact us for details.
I personally have partly returned to the hand work in order to make a living, finding I have gained new students who have wanted to do wheel work and use the extruder alongside their lovely brush work. I have also introduced glass painting and decorative art to the class as its just another canvas. If you wish to hold your own seminar or work shop in any aspect of fired or non fired art, please get in touch and I can custom make your own courses. The cost of a seminar may vary as I provide all pottery equipment etc. saving you that initial outlay. I also go into the ceramic industry on a one to one basis or a
small number of staff to broaden their existing skills. The cost of USA visits varies also on how many studios I'm working at to cover my flight. Each class is a minimum of 10 and usually 30 to 50 dollars, again depending if it is ceramic or basket weaving as formers are
expensive.
I look forward to helping your business grow
